Art Director

Your Role

The role of Art Director is to develop and execute innovative, engaging and impactful ideas and art direction in collaboration with creative directors, copywriters and the wider creative department.  

Primarily, their focus lies in supporting the Executive Creative Director in shaping Scooter’s integrated campaign creative across all channels and consumer touch points. It is their responsibility to ensure that campaign and art direction align with the overarching creative direction and strategy, effectively conveying the intended message to the target audience. 

What You’ll Do

Summary of duties include, but are not limited to, the below: 

  • Work directly and collaboratively with Creative Directors, Creative Dept, Strategy and Account Service, to develop briefs into innovative, engaging, and impactful integrated campaigns 
  • Be a natural problem solver that can think outside the box and clearly articulate the strategy behind your work both internally and in client presentations 
  • Displays confidence in presenting conceptual thinking clearly to both clients and colleagues 
  • Lead the execution on photos and video shoots (both in-studio and on location), from initial concept to final delivery. Display composure and organisational skills in managing various aspects of a shoot, including direction, location scouting, coordination with photographers and stylists, development of shot lists and storyboards, to ensure alignment with client expectations 
  • Lead and/or collaborate in brainstorming/creative sessions to generate ideas both internally and with clients 
  • Ensures Scooter and the creative work is at the forefront of digital and social innovation through active engagement with the relevant industries 
  • Able to clearly and effectively articulate ideas and concepts through copy 
  • Able to develop an intermediate level of copy in conjunction with ideation i.e. headlines and campaign naming, social and digital executions etc. 
  • Liaise with external production suppliers to ensure projects are executed through to completion as per Scooter standards 
  • Excellent organisational and project management capabilities, capable of influencing clients and colleagues to achieve desired outcomes and impact 
  • Displays confidence in presenting conceptual thinking clearly to both clients and colleagues 
  • Capable of leading and motivating colleagues to excel, demonstrating empathy, anticipating needs, and addressing them effectively 
  • Have a passion and hunger for exploring innovative approaches to creativity 

Quality Control 

  • Harness a deep understanding of client brand guidelines and product knowledge, with ability to sense check project requirements with Account Service and Creative Directors. 
  • Ensure all creative that leaves the department is of the highest quality and meets the Scooter standard of creative excellence. 


  • Ensure timesheets are up to date and include descriptions of work completed 
  • Ensure all work is save according to company naming conventions for accurate version control. 
  • Responsible for understanding and monitoring internal and supplier time/costs allocated on a job, production requirements, time frames and deadlines.

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience within a variety of creative agencies is required, demonstrating a strong commitment to professional development  
  • Tertiary qualification in communication, advertising, design or similar is mandatory 
  • Deep understanding of all social media platforms  
  • Experience working in the shopper/retail space preferred 
  • Experience working on FMCG brands preferred
